PLoS launches journal for neglected tropical diseases

    PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, a new open access journal, was launched online last week by the Public Library of Science. The journal will cover the pathology, epidemiology, prevention, treatment, and control of neglected tropical diseases.

    It is intended to “promote science, policy, and advocacy for diseases of the poor, and give a voice to the community of physicians and scientists working to control these diseases,” said Peter Hotez, professor of tropical diseases at George Washington University, Washington, DC, and editor in chief of the new journal.
