My guess was that this white haired, friendly lady was about 65. I did not have a chance to ask her age because as soon as I sat down opposite her she handed me a list of about 25 problems, each one neatly written out, and next to the complaint the name of the medication she was taking to cure that particular difficulty. For instance, next to sour stomach was written gelucil every four hours. I counted about 20 complaints, and she was taking 80-100 pills a day. After I finished going over her list, I asked how she could remember to take all of these medicines. She pulled out a daily schedule, which revealed that she took one or more medications every hour of the day.
