US doctors see average income fall

    The average net income for American physicians fell by 3.8% in 1994, says the American Medical Association. This represents the first decline in annual compensation since the association began compiling data on doctors' salaries. While physicians' income has declined, the Health Care Financing Administration reported that national health care expenditures rose by an estimated 6.1% in 1994.
