London whistleblower left with career in tatters

A former professor at Imperial College School of Medicine and consultant to the Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust, both in London, has been left with his career in tatters after raising concerns about the safety of patients.

Peter Dawson, aged 54, who has now talked openly in interviews with BBC Radio 4 and London's Evening Standard newspaper, was suspended from his job and eventually agreed to resign last February with a payoff of £120000 ($192000).
