Patients often choose simpler treatments over latest technology, survey finds

A consultation involving some 120 000 people shows that NHS patients want control over their own treatment and more convenient access to services. Traditional values such as good relationships with doctors and nurses also remain important to the public.
The full consultation, Choice, Responsiveness and Equity, was due to be published this week as the BMJ went to press. Its broad findings were reported at the annual conference of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.
