What this means for you

BMA members need to register on the BMA’s website to obtain a username and password. They will need to use this BMA username and password each time they visit bmj.com.
Personal subscribers to the print BMJ These subscriptions include free access to bmj.com but need to be activated first. Locate your customer number from your journal wrapper and click here to activate.
Library subscribers to the print BMJ

Definition of relevant Full Time Equivalents (FTEs):

  • Academic Institutions: Total number of medical faculty (academic staff and students) and researchers.
  • Hospitals: Total number of clinicians, pharmacists and researchers (excluding nurses).
  • Corporate institutions: Total number of researchers and medical information employees.
  • Government institutions, regulatory agencies, medical societies and all others: Total number of professionally qualified staff.

Full Time Equivalent bands are set as follows:

  • Small 1 - 400 FTE
  • Medium 401 - 1,500
  • Large (+X-Large) 1,501+
