Scottish health service is ordered to release data on surgeons' performance

    The Scottish health service has been ordered to release information to the media on the death rate data for named surgeons, under freedom of information legislation.

    The order comes after a successful appeal by two newspapers, the Scotsman and Sunday Times, against a decision by NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) to refuse to make the information public.
