Clinical trials funded by profit making organisations tend to find positive results

Cardiovascular clinical trials funded by profit making organisations, such as drug companies, report more positive results than trials funded by non-profit making organisations. This is the finding of a study published in JAMA (2006;295:2270-4). Trials funded by partnerships of for profit and not for profit organisations report results in between.
The findings are broadly in line with previous surveys, which have shown that studies sponsored by for profit organisations were more likely to report positive findings.
