to debate issues raised in articles published on bmj.com. A rapid response
is first posted online. If you need the URL (web address) of an individual
response, simply click on the response headline and copy the URL from the
browser window. A proportion of responses will, after editing, be published
online and in the print journal as letters, which are indexed in PubMed.
Rapid responses are not indexed in PubMed and they are not journal articles.

This interesting study by Janice Hopkins, indeedexamplifies the
general trand perhaps all over the world. Interns are usually at the
lowest leg of the professional ladder, and most of the programs offer them
little recognition. The begining of their internship though filled with a
lot of hope and enthusiasm , is taken over soon by an attempt to just
finish the work and let go. Mizrahi T has called it Get Rid of patients'
(GROP)effect (1).This GROP effect which reflects the general mood of the
grass root staff is partly the responsibility of the general working
enviornment.
Even interns should be made to feel that they are acquiring newer skills
and their attempt at perfection should be frequently lauded, so as to
reduce stress and their general demenor. In a study on Internal medicine
residents done by Harris IB et al(2)they demonstrated that the general
attitute of the residents improves with more number of years they have put
into their residency training, acquiring more clinical skills during the
process. Probably mood and attitude of the interns can be improved by
making them feel so !
