Severe myalgia from an interaction between treatments with pantoprazole and methotrexate

A conflict of truth?
Editor
Although the argument regarding pharmaceutical advertising in the BMJ
is well versed I did enjoy the sight of two uncomfortable bed-fellows
revealed on opening the BMJ. First reading the article by Troger et al.(1)
describing severe myalagia from an interaction between pantoprazole and
methotrexate and then later turning to the back page of BMA News -
distributed with the BMJ to doctors in the UK - to find a full page
advertisement for Protium (pantoprazole) trumpeting "NO known metabolic
drug interactions."
